As a Black plus-size woman, there was another layer. I rarely saw women who looked like me and had a body like mine. Sometimes brands represented my skin. Sometimes my curves. Finding both somehow felt like asking for too much.

After years of walking past clothes I loved and telling myself “maybe when I lose weight,” I realised something:
